Welcome to the Sacred Waters

Reflecting on the Christ as the Living Water, Welcome to the Sacred Waters calls us to answer God’s call to enter the sacred currents and work to build the ‘kin-dom’ right here and now. A call to service and community, there is a fifth verse appropriate as a response to baptisms. BEACH SPRING, the hymn tune utilized, is by B.F. White (1800-1879) and was first published in The Sacred Harp in 1844.
Welcome to the sacred waters, enter in and find a home.
Find within a holy rhythm where your song can be made known.
Join with God in co-creating beauty and a world made new.
Living water purifies us, brings the kin-dom into view.
Like a potter molding vessels; we are given shape and form.
Flowing currents ebb around us, and our edges they are worn.
Tenderly God etches in us patterns with both love and care.
We in turn to one another, our God’s love we’re called to share.
Currents move and dance around us, bearing songs and melodies.
Joined together as one body, we create vast harmonies.
Symphonies that ring-out boldly, hymns and prayers that lift our hearts.
Praises offered all together intertwined as sacred art.
Jesus is the living water, poured out freely from God’s heart.
Calling each one to surrender as a whole, not just one part.
We are called to leave the streams edge, enter in the river vast.
Embrace the currents sacred calling, with God’s promise, we hold-fast.
For Baptisms:
Welcome to the sacred waters, meet the Lord and be set free!
Jesus Christ, the living water, calls you to community.
Join in worship, prayers, and study, for together we shall find,
that our God invites communion with the whole of humankind.
